Cross-Border Digital Presence
Cross-border digital presence is the work of making one business genuinely findable and legally sound in several countries at once: per-market keyword research rather than translated pages, an hreflang architecture search engines trust, accessibility that meets the European Accessibility Act, analytics that survive EU consent rules, and structured data that AI assistants can cite. Sors Technology builds and runs this for companies selling into two or more European markets, and maps the compliance calendar country by country because the deadlines are not the same in any two of them.
Who this is for
- Companies already selling into two or more European markets on a single-language website
- Businesses whose home market performs well and whose export markets produce almost nothing organically
- Exporters told by a customer or a bank that their website has to meet EU accessibility law and with no idea where to start
- Companies whose EU analytics broke when consent enforcement tightened and who now market without numbers
Who this is not for
- Single-market businesses — the multilingual machinery is overhead you would pay for and never use
- Anyone wanting pages machine-translated into eight languages; that ranks in none of them and we will not build it
- Companies without local fulfilment, support or returns in the target market: search visibility converts and then the operation fails, which is worse than being invisible
Problems we solve
| Where you are | Where we get you |
|---|---|
| Your export markets get an English page and rank nowhere | Per-market keyword research and locally written content — the words buyers there actually use, not a translation of the words buyers here use |
| Visitors land on the wrong language, or on a page that redirects them in circles | Correct hreflang and canonical architecture, self-referential per locale, with no redirect loops and no duplicate-content penalties |
| A customer asks whether your site meets the European Accessibility Act and nobody can answer | An EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1 AA audit with the fixes implemented and a dated conformance report you can send them |
| E-invoicing mandates are arriving in your markets on different timetables and nobody is tracking them | A per-country calendar of what applies to you and when, and what your invoicing stack needs to do about it |
| AI assistants describe your category to buyers in every market without mentioning you in any | Answer-first content and structured data per locale, so an assistant can quote you in the language the question was asked in |
| Consent banners killed your analytics and marketing decisions are now guesses | Consent-mode analytics that stay lawful and still produce usable numbers, with conversion tracking that survives a rejected banner |
What's included
Per-market search strategy
Separate keyword research, competitor set and intent map for every target country — because the commercially valuable phrase in Spain is rarely the translation of the one in Germany.
Multilingual architecture
URL structure, hreflang, canonicals and language switching that maps localised slug to localised slug rather than swapping a prefix. Built the way this site is built, which you can inspect yourself.
European Accessibility Act conformance
Audit against EN 301 549 (WCAG 2.1 AA), fixes implemented, manual testing with a screen reader and keyboard, and a dated report. Enforceable since 28 June 2025, and the microenterprise exemption is narrower than most companies assume.
Answer-engine optimisation
Schema.org entities, answer-first page structure and a machine-readable llms.txt per market. Consumer use of AI tools to find businesses went from 6% to 45% in a year while Google's share of discovery fell from 83% to 71% — the second door is now worth building.
Compliance calendar
Which invoicing, accessibility and data rules bite in each of your markets and when. Spain's Verifactu lands 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for the self-employed; other members states run their own timetables, and we track the ones that apply to you rather than selling you a generic panic.
Lawful, useful measurement
Consent-mode analytics, server-side tagging where it helps, and conversion tracking wired to real enquiries — reported per market so you can see which country deserves next quarter's budget.
Local trust signals
Per-country business profiles, local phone presence, currency and delivery clarity, and the legal pages each market expects. The details that decide whether a visitor from another country actually buys.
Our approach
- 01
Market audit
Two to three weeks: current visibility per country, technical and accessibility state, analytics integrity, and the compliance surface in each market. Output: a written plan naming which markets are worth investment and which are not.
- 02
Fix the architecture
hreflang, canonicals, performance and accessibility. Nothing else compounds until this is right, and most cross-border sites are broken here.
- 03
Build per market
Locally written content against each market's keyword map, published in priority order so the strongest market starts returning while the others are still being built.
- 04
Close the compliance gaps
Accessibility report signed off, invoicing plan agreed per country, analytics lawful and producing numbers.
- 05
Compound
Quarterly review per market, reallocating effort to the countries the data rewards and honestly recommending withdrawal from the ones it does not.

- Presence in AI-generated answers in every market you sell to
- Per-market reporting good enough to decide where next quarter's budget goes
Frequently asked questions
Because buyers in different countries search with different phrases, and a translation inherits the source market's keyword choices. Translated pages typically rank for nothing commercially valuable. Each market needs its own research and its own copy on a shared architecture — which is more work up front and the only version that pays back.
If you sell products or services to EU customers, yes — the obligation follows the market, not the headquarters. It has been enforceable since 28 June 2025 and the technical standard is EN 301 549, which tracks WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Microenterprises under 10 staff and under €2 million turnover have limited exemptions, but they are narrower than most companies assume.
Enforcement is national, not central: each member state sets its own mechanism, and consequences range from fines to removal of a product from that market. In practice the commercial risk arrives earlier than the regulator does, when a B2B customer's procurement process asks for a conformance statement you cannot produce.
That depends entirely on which countries you invoice in, and the timetables differ. Spain is the clearest case: Verifactu from 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for the self-employed, with penalties up to €50,000 a year for non-compliant software, while the separate B2B mandate under the Crea y Crece law was still awaiting its ministerial order in mid-2026. We map your specific markets rather than generalising.
Usually two, and never more than three. Doing two markets properly beats doing six badly, and the audit normally shows that one market is close to working and another is a genuine opportunity while the rest are noise. We would rather tell you to drop a market than bill for it.
Those four plus English are our own markets, so yes — and for other European languages we work with native writers to a brief we build from the keyword research. What we do not do is machine-translate and call it localisation.
Architecture and accessibility fixes show up in weeks. A new market building organic authority from a standing start is three to nine months before it produces steady enquiries, and it compounds after that. We report monthly per market against the audit baseline, so the trend is visible long before the revenue is.
